MetroAccess Still Struggling
D.C. Paratransit Info has been closely following the WMATA MetroAccess program. The site also links to the WMATA's site that monitors the effectiveness of its program by cataloging the number of trips delivered each day as well as the number of late trips and complaints received.
Yesterday, Lena Sun wrote an article for the Washington Post highlighting the negative experience Elizabeth McKee had when using MetroAccess.
"Elizabeth McKee is 82 and blind. On Tuesday, she left her Woodley Park home for a doctor's appointment in Silver Spring, 12 miles away. She got home eight hours later, so shaken by her travel experience that she nearly collapsed."
While this is just one example of the problems riders have had with MetroAccess, in the first month of service, there have been many reports of dissatisfaction.
